When it comes to choosing the right ERP software for your business, there are many things to consider. The process can seem overwhelming, but don’t worry – we’re here to help.

To begin your ERP software journey, it is best to map out your business processes to ascertain your ERP requirements. Make sure you include each step of every process, who is responsible for each task, what data needs to be inputted and what output is expected. This will help you determine which features are most important to your business. It will help you understand your key business needs and requirements. ERP should be able to work effectively for each department within your company.

Ensure that the ERP solutions under consideration work effectively for all business-critical tasks, less essential business processes should be considered further down the selection process. There is, however, a benefit of having all departments using a single solution and working from one version of ‘the truth’, eliminating data silos that occur when multiple systems and databases are used.

Shortlist Your ERP Software:

Now that you know what features to look for, it’s time to start shopping around for ERP providers. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you begin your search:

First, make sure that the provider has experience with businesses like yours. They should understand your specific needs and requirements. Find out what sectors your ERP software provider has in-depth knowledge of – ask for recommendations from other businesses in your industry.

Secondly, check out their customer reviews and testimonials. This will give you a good idea of what other customers think of their products and services. You can also look for case studies they have provided to see in-depth how the software has helped others. This is especially helpful if they have case studies for each industry.

Thirdly, make sure that they offer good customer support. You should be able to quickly get in touch with someone if you have questions or run into any problems. You should have a helpline or a dedicated point of contact should you need them, even after the on-boarding process.

Fourthly, consider implementation. How long will it take the provider to set your business up with the software? How long will the on-boarding process be? Does this fit in with your business timelines?

Consider your budget. Make sure you choose a provider that fits your budget, including any ongoing costs or training costs.

Lastly, but most importantly, make sure your potential vendor can demonstrate the software to give you an in-depth view of how the system will work for you and meet your business requirements.

Once you have narrowed down providers, evaluate the shortlisted software based on all the criteria. Finally, decide the software and supplier that suits you best and get started with implementing your new ERP software.
