When is the correct time for a new ERP system?

Already use an ERP system? When is the best time for a change? Some companies look for an upgrade when their current system experiences inefficiencies.

What are some other reasons to research new ERP systems?

System inefficiencies:

Outdated systems could still need manual updates, have operational bottlenecks, increase of cash flow errors and causing errors. This could mean relying on overtime which could cost the company money.

Lack of data:

A lack of data with an old system could mean that it is unable to make decisions – or it could have problems accessing that data, slowing down operations.

Outdated tools:

Tools that are not up to date can cause issues. Using too many different software products can also clutter up the system, also slowing down operations and having a domino effect, with overtime needed and again costing the company money.

Need for structure:

There is an important need for structure with an ERP system. This ensures that the system functions effectively and efficiently, and allows for the system to streamline business operations – and facilitate information sharing.

Scaling issues:

There is a real need for scalability in your ER system because it allows businesses to adapt to the changing needs and growth in the company, without the needs for a complete system overhaul.

So when is the best time to upscale your system?

Most ERP systems can typically last about 50-10 years, but some organisations are using systems that are older. Ever evolving and adapting to new platforms, these systems do not become obsolete, but could perhaps benefit with an update, or new features added.
